Question by Myron The Bloody Siren: Why are many of us so attracted to different English dialects in the opposite sex...?
I noticed that a lot of guys (in the US) like girls who speak English with, say, an English, Australian, Irish, Scottish, etc. accentâ€"the same goes for many females when they talk about guys that they like.
Why are various dialects of English attractive to so many of us whereas when English is spoken as a second language, it's often NOT such a turn on?

I'm really into the middle-class Scottish accent at the mo. Used to adore the working class New York accent and Caribbean accents too. Europeans speaking English don't usually turn me on, with the exceptions of the French, the Belgians and the Finnish.
It's a vowel thing.
